About Us

Bruce Neill, Director, signs the lease for new premises in Culbokie.

Craobh Woodwork is a family-run business which specialises in producing bespoke timber products from the highest quality, locally sourced reclaimed timber. Craobh was originally set up in Inverness in 2015, but in November 2019 an opportunity arose to relocate to the Black Isle, obtain larger premises and increase the range of unique pieces we can produce.

Craobh Woodwork has been further developed when the business was identified as having growth potential and awarded funding from LEADER – a European rural development fund assisting in rural business growth – and Highland Opportunity Investments. This funding allowed the company to expand the product list and increase scope for making larger items.

Bruce Neill heads the Craobh team and is based at the Culbokie workshop full time. Bruce has 25 years joinery and carpentry experience, as well as a passion for woodworking. The product list began when Bruce produced wooden chopping boards for the successful gift shops ‘Isle of Skye Candles’ – demand was so high for theses products that Bruce was unable to meet the demand alone. Since then, the list of beautiful, self-designed pieces has expanded and the new workshop space offers room to create larger items, like tables, river tables, worktops, beds, desks and other bespoke items.

Gordon Neill, Bruce’s brother, has also recently joined the team with his wealth of experience in steel fabrication. This has allowed Craobh to develop the product list further, combining wood and steel in the design.

For our full product list, please see the ‘Our Products’ page on the website. We always like to make custom-made pieces, so don’t be afraid to ask!
